Steve Earle, Pat Benatar, Benefit for Kris Krull, The Coathangers, Alex Bleeker & The Freaks

Outlaw country, alt-country, folk country, Americana, whatever you want to call him, he's a legend. Steve Earle will be at The National on Friday night. Steve will be playing with his band, the Dukes (& Duchesses) feat. Allison Moorer and The Mastersons. Doors open at 7, show starts at 8. Tix are $25.50 (prices here include the service charges) for GA Standing Platform,  Balcony Seating for $34.75 and Floor Reserved for $40. Here's Steve & The Dukes & Duchesses doing "Invisible" from Steve's latest album, "The Low Highway":

Saturday evening at Poe's Pub, there is a benefit for local musician Kris Krull. Kris is the drummer for Richmond Americana band The Atkinsons and he got badly injured when a second floor balcony railing broke and he fell. So all his friends are getting together to make a few bucks to help him out with his medical expenses. The show will start at 4 PM and go until they close the bar and there will be a $10 cover. There are a buncha bands playing so check out the poster above for the lineup.

Neo-psychedelic band Alex Bleeker and the Freaks will do an early show Monday night at Strange Matter. It's an all ages show, it's $7 to get in, and the doors will open at 5 PM with the music starting at 6. Age of Asparagus (awesome name!) and one other band (TBA) will open. Here's Alex & the Freaks jammin' out their song "Never Goin' Back" in the bathroom. These guys don't have many videos and this about the best I could find.

Wednesday, rock n' roll diva Pat Benatar, husband Neil Giraldo and band come to Innsbrook to hit you with their best shot, or as my friends and I used to sing in 7th grade, "hit me with your wet snot". I know you will now sing it that way the next time you hear that. Tix are $20 for GA Lawn, $30 for Gold Circle Reserved and $40 for Gold Circle Preferred. Doors open at 5, show starts at 6 with opener TBA (hey, they're opening for Alex Bleeker, too) and Pat and the guys will come on between 7:15 and 7:45.

All female garage rock band The Coathangers will be at Strange Matter Wednesday night. It's $8 to get in, doors will open at 9 PM, and the show starts at 10 with openers Nervous Ticks, Gangland Buries Its Own,  and Heavy Midgets. The Coathangers were recording some new music earlier this month so they might have some new tunes to lay on ya. You might dig The Coathangers if you like The Donnas, The Slits, The Cars, or X. Here's The Coathangers singing "Derek's Song":

Here's 21 Problems Only Music Lovers Understand. I can totally relate to #2, #3, #8, #10, and #15.

Enjoy your weekend, people!
