Slightly Stoopid, Atmosphere, Budos Band, Late Night Pick: The National
It's an eclectic lineup tonight down at Pocahontas State Park from bands that draw on elements of reggae, ska, punk, pop, and rap when the Kickin' Up Dust tour hits with Slightly Stoopid, Atmosphere and Tribal Seeds. Per the Tribal Seeds Facebook page, gates open at 4, show starts around 5 with Tribal Seeds first. That is contrary to what it says on the tickets and on the Pocahontas Live site so be forewarned. General Admission is $35 at the gate and there is a $5 parking fee per car that goes to upkeep for the park. These bands all have a openly acknowledged taste for a certain green plant that is used for medicinal and recreational purposes so be prepared to be enveloped in clouds of smoke at the show and enjoy the contact high even if you aren't partaking yourself. Slightly Stoopid was featured on a webcast from Bob Weir's TRI Studios a couple years ago and Bob joined them for a couple tunes. Here they are doing Slightly Stoopid's "Ocean":
Tonight's Late Night Pick is The National, hot off their show at last weekend's Outside Lands Festival. They'll be on Conan tonight at 11 PM on TBS.
