NJ band (and friends of Bruce) The Gaslight Anthem will be on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon tonight on NBC at 12:35 AM promoting their new album "Handwritten", which is getting pretty good reviews. Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem did an acoustic session and chat on Livestream on Tuesday. You can check it out here:
Speaking of Bruce, Mr. Springsteen and the E Street Band will be coming to John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville on October 23. Tix are on sale at Ticketmaster on 9/14. They've been doing 3.5 - 4 hour shows in Europe. Nils Lofgren, guitarist for the band, wondered in an interview recently whether American audiences could handle or would even want the shows to go that long. I say that Charlottesville would be a great place to find out! Though the past shows for any band that I have been to at JPJ in C'ville have found the audience lacking in enthusiasm, no matter how good the show is, sitting on their asses for most of the night. Hopefully, at the Bruce show in October the audience will be ready to get involved. You only get out of a show, what you put into it, and an great audience can lift a show, especially a Bruce show, from a good show to a sublime show. Was just listening to this Bruce song and if it's not the greatest one, it's definitely close:
Supporting music in Richmond since 2000 - "Hello, my love, I heard a kiss from you / Red magic satin playing near, too / All through the morning rain I gaze, the sun doesn't shine / Rainbows and waterfalls run through my mind / In the garden, I see, west purple shower bells and tea / Orange birds and river cousins dressed in green / Pretty music, I hear, so happy and loud / Blue flowers echo from a cherry cloud" - The Brothers Johnson, “Strawberry Letter 23”
