Toinight's late night pick is The Black Keys who will be on the Colbet Report tonight at 11:30 PM on Comedy Central and then repeated a few times over the next 24 hours. I'm sure the Black Keys will play something from their new, critically acclaimed album "El Camino". They did a fine job on Saturday Night Live last week.
In Drive-By Truckers news, bassist Shonna Tucker has left the band. She had been in DBT for the last eight years. Click HERE for notes from her and band leader, Patterson Hood. Shonna was starting to come into her own in DBT, taking lead vocals and lead writing credits on a few songs on the last few albums. Perhaps she wanted to do more of that and decided to strike out on her own. I'll miss her bass playing, harmonies and her cute butt.
One of the top 100 guitarists of all time in a recent Rolling Stone poll of musicians has passed away. Hubert Sumlin, who played with Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters and influenced Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Keith Richards and many others, died at 80 years old on Sunday. Read the obit in Rolling Stone HERE.
Supporting music in Richmond since 2000 - "Hello, my love, I heard a kiss from you / Red magic satin playing near, too / All through the morning rain I gaze, the sun doesn't shine / Rainbows and waterfalls run through my mind / In the garden, I see, west purple shower bells and tea / Orange birds and river cousins dressed in green / Pretty music, I hear, so happy and loud / Blue flowers echo from a cherry cloud" - The Brothers Johnson, “Strawberry Letter 23”
