Tonight, critically acclaimed indie electronica artist Dan Deacon will be at Gallery 5. This is the show that was rescheduled from October 3. Tix are $13, doors open at 7 and the music should start shortly thereafter with openers Alan Resnick, Chester Endersby Gwaza, and Height With Friends. Dan's been influenced by artists such as Devo, Talking Heads, Animal Collective, John Cage, and The Residents. Here's Dan's "True Thrush" video. It starts with a 13 second scene which was then shown to the next team, which then had an hour to recreate the scene from memory. So it's like a visual version of that old "Telephone" game. Check out the results here:
NO BS! Brass Band is at Balliceaux tonight. Show starts at 10 and it's $3 to get in.

Supporting music in Richmond since 2000 - "Hello, my love, I heard a kiss from you / Red magic satin playing near, too / All through the morning rain I gaze, the sun doesn't shine / Rainbows and waterfalls run through my mind / In the garden, I see, west purple shower bells and tea / Orange birds and river cousins dressed in green / Pretty music, I hear, so happy and loud / Blue flowers echo from a cherry cloud" - The Brothers Johnson, “Strawberry Letter 23”
