The exciting, science fiction, funk-soul of Janelle Monae will be on Late Show with David Letterman (Christopher Walken, too!) on CBS at 11:35 PM. Janelle is one of those artists that I can't believe has not played Richmond. She would be perfect to see at The National. If you want a taste of Janelle's influences, check out her "WondaMix" on Spotify. Here's "Tightrope" from her 2010 album, "Archandroid". Beware! This video has been know to induce spontaneous dancing.
Here's Jack White doing the title track from his new album, "Lazaretto" on Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Monday night. It rocks, as usual, in a funky way.
And here's a bonus peformance of "Just One Drink":
Supporting music in Richmond since 2000 - "Hello, my love, I heard a kiss from you / Red magic satin playing near, too / All through the morning rain I gaze, the sun doesn't shine / Rainbows and waterfalls run through my mind / In the garden, I see, west purple shower bells and tea / Orange birds and river cousins dressed in green / Pretty music, I hear, so happy and loud / Blue flowers echo from a cherry cloud" - The Brothers Johnson, “Strawberry Letter 23”
