Legendary jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter will be on Tavis Smiley tonight on PBS. My usual word of warning when musicians are on Tavis' show is that they may or may not perform but Tavis always gets a good interview out of them. Check Tavis' site for the time and date of the show. Here in Richmond, it's on WCVW at 3 AM so set those DVRs. In this recent broadcast on BBC Radio, Wayne talks about his inspriations (from Mozart to Art Tatum) and his work with Miles Davis and Weather Report. Here's Wayne playing in the Miles Davis Quintet with Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams:
Here's Roddy Hart and the Lonesome Fire's performance of "Bad Blood" on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on Friday night:
Supporting music in Richmond since 2000 - "Hello, my love, I heard a kiss from you / Red magic satin playing near, too / All through the morning rain I gaze, the sun doesn't shine / Rainbows and waterfalls run through my mind / In the garden, I see, west purple shower bells and tea / Orange birds and river cousins dressed in green / Pretty music, I hear, so happy and loud / Blue flowers echo from a cherry cloud" - The Brothers Johnson, “Strawberry Letter 23”
