The great jazz pianist, Dave Brubeck, passed away this morning at the age of 91. HERE is the obit in the Chicago Tribune. Most people know his famous piece, "Take Five" so I stole this video from the Tribune article, ""In Your Own Sweet Way":
Keeping the jazz theme going, jazz/trad pop singer/pianist Diana Krall will be on the Late Show with David Letterman tonight at 11:35 PM on CBS. Comedian Albert Brooks will also be on the show. Diana just won Downbeat Magazine's award for Female Vocalist of the Year. She'll probably do a Christmas song tonight but maybe she'll throw in a musical reference to Brubeck.
Supporting music in Richmond since 2000 - "Hello, my love, I heard a kiss from you / Red magic satin playing near, too / All through the morning rain I gaze, the sun doesn't shine / Rainbows and waterfalls run through my mind / In the garden, I see, west purple shower bells and tea / Orange birds and river cousins dressed in green / Pretty music, I hear, so happy and loud / Blue flowers echo from a cherry cloud" - The Brothers Johnson, “Strawberry Letter 23”
