Weekend Picks: No BS! Brass Band, Trongone Band, Jackass Flats, Everwilde, DJ Williams Projekt

It's an all local band weekend. Get out and support local music. Find a new favorite band that you can watch grow right before your eyes.

Thursday starts the weekend out right with Trongone Band at The Camel. Doors open at 8, it's $7 to get in and Dead 27s open. Here's Trongone Band jamming with The London Souls last Thursday night at The Camel.

No BS! Brass Band gets down at The Broadberry on Friday night. Tix are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Doors open at 8 and Sundials open the show at 9. No BS has been working on a new album so I'm sure you'll catch some of that at the show. Here's No BS on Audiotree Live in Feburary:

Country rockers Everwilde are at Uptown Alley Friday night. They'll play from 8:30 until 11:30 and there is a $5 cover.

Jackass Flats brings the bluegrass/Americana to The Camel Friday. It's $7 in advance, $10 at the door, doors open at 8 and Butcher Brown opens. Here's Jackass Flats playing "Whiskey River" a few weeks ago:

Saturday, the garage doors should be open at Hardywood to let the fresh, spring air in and what better way to celebrate than with the new RPG IPA in celebration of Richmond hard stoner rockers RPG. Doors open at 8, music starts at 6 with Bummers Eve (Stripped down garage set of punk fuzz from Cincinnati), then RVA's own Lady God (Bristling surf guitar, webby bass lines, and sneering dual vocals compose an oddly satisfying vintage rock n’ roll salad they call “Slink.”). They'll be followed by Roper & Furley (Fine Virginia guitar rock, love the "Three's Company" reference) and finally the band of the hour, RPG. Here's RPG when they played Hardywood a year ago:  Due to a member or RPG dislocating their elbow a couple days ago, RPG will be unable to perform, though they may still show up to enjoy their beer. In their place, Druglord is joining as the headliner. RPG will be rescheduled for another gig at Hardywood as soon as the band member recovers.

Tuesday night, DJ Williams Projekt continue their run of Tuesday night theme nights at The Broadberry. This Tuesday's theme is hip hop with Padaprice & Josh Freeze. Doors open at 8 and it's $7 to get in. Here they are jamming with Karl Denson and Sam Reed last August on Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy":

I'll leave you with this one from Suzanne Vega & DNA from long ago:

Have a great weekend!
