Up and coming alt-country singer/songwriter Sturgill Simpson will be on Late Show with David Letterman tonight (11:35 PM, CBS). In Nashville Scene magazine's annual Country Music Critic's Poll, Sturgill won #1 album, male vocalist and songwriter of 2014. He'll be here in Richmond at The Broadberry on 2/24 but if you don't have tickets already, you're out of luck. It's sold out. It's a new Late Show tonight, so here's what Sturgill did when he was on the Late Show a few months ago:
Here's Lee Ann Womack on last night's Conan:
Supporting music in Richmond since 2000 - "Hello, my love, I heard a kiss from you / Red magic satin playing near, too / All through the morning rain I gaze, the sun doesn't shine / Rainbows and waterfalls run through my mind / In the garden, I see, west purple shower bells and tea / Orange birds and river cousins dressed in green / Pretty music, I hear, so happy and loud / Blue flowers echo from a cherry cloud" - The Brothers Johnson, “Strawberry Letter 23”
